Jenna Ortega, Wednesday star, in talks to join Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel at Warner Bros

Jenna Ortega, the breakout star of the Netflix series Wednesday, is reportedly in talks to reunite with Tim Burton for a sequel to Beetlejuice at Warner Bros., according to entertainment magazine Deadline. The publication added that Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are also expected to reprise their roles in the sequel, with Burton returning to the director’s chair.

If the deal is finalized, Ortega is said to play the daughter of Lydia, the character played by Ryder in the 1988 film. Burton directed the original film, which also starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jordan, and Catherine O’Hara. The movie grossed $80 million on a budget of $15 million and won the Best Makeup Oscar at the 1989 Academy Awards.

Ortega’s career took off with her role as Young Jane on The CW’s Jane the Virgin, followed by appearances in You and Yes Day. She also starred in the horror hit X and last year’s Scream reboot. Ortega’s performance in the Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday broke several records, and the show has already been renewed for a second season.

Apart from Beetlejuice, Ortega is also set to appear in Scream VI and host Saturday Night Live on the March 11th episode. The young actress has become a rising star in Hollywood and is expected to feature in many more prominent projects in the future.
